South Derbyshire residents may have to pay an extra £46.49 a year in council tax – on average – as Derbyshire County Council attempts to balance its budget.

A 27-year-old man has been banned from the roads after he was caught driving the wrong way down a major road in Burton.

New landlords 'here to stay' at popular Derby Inn
A popular Burton pub - the Derby Inn - has new landlords, after its managers signed a deal to take over the pub. Lee and Rachael Betts had been managers at the Derby Road pub for 18 months, but have now signed a deal to run the pub, and hope to make it even better.
The pair have now signed an eight-month deal, with an option to sign up with Admiral Taverns for a further five-year deal afterwards.

Motorists are being urged to find an alternative route to work after reports of an accident outside Burton's Queen's Hospital this morning, Friday, January 27.
