Controversial Foston Pig Farm withdrawn
A CONTROVERSIAL plan to build a pig farm in a South Derbyshire village has been withdrawn, the applicants have revealed.
Midland Pig Producers has withdrawn its application to house up to 25,000 sows on a 70-acre site close to Foston Prison, blaming the Environment Agency's decision to refuse its environmental permit.
Developments like the farm need a permit from the Environment Agency to operate.
But the agency said it was not satisfied it would not create an unwelcome odour.
